Poverty and Unemployment Workshop
You are invited to the followup workshop of the Poverty and Unemployment conference held during 2018. This is a joint initiative between TCN, the Local Church in Nelson Mandela Bay and Ikhala Trust. Following is an abstract from an earlier press release by this initiative: "Our country has arrived at a crossroad. Poverty and unemployment, especially among the youth, are at explosive levels. In 2016 author, entrepreneur and political commentator Moeletsi Mbeki predicted what he termed a “hidden low-intensity civil” war would escalate into full-scale civil unrest. What is clear from the shenanigans in the Nelson Mandela Bay council is that the politicians will never solve our problems while they continue to focus on wrestling power from each other in their narcissistic power games. The time has come for every church and congregant to get involved!"
Time: 9h00-12h00
Venue: South End Museum
Cost: Free

“Return to Me!” Rebuilding a Holy Nation - Prayer Drive
Several prayer network leaders came together from 3 to 5 September 2018 in East Londen to seek the Lord and consult together about God’s strategy and direction for intercessors in coming year. As 2019 will also be an election year in South Africa we were keenly aware that intercession for godly changes and interventions in governmental spheres would be an important concern for intercessors in the coming season. During the consultation, we were surprised as we became aware that God was not focussed on the sinful and unrighteous societal issues that we so easily get engrossed in. Rather, the words we received were about God’s greater concern, namely the Church that is not aligned to Him nor connected to His heart or His presence. Our Heavenly Father is focussed on the Holy nation (1 Pet 2:9) within the nation that does not stand before God with clean hands or pure hearts (Ps 24:4) and consequently our prayers have been unable to release the blessing and transformative power we so desperately need (Jam 5:16). As a result, a prayer initiative was born that mobilise the Church to pray for a specific time focussing on highlighted areas of the functioning of the Church.

Let us show our love for Muslims by praying for them! 5 May – 4 June 2019 Ramadan is an annual Muslim observance period of 30 days. During this time Muslims fast, perform certain religious duties and do personal reflection. For Muslims it is a period of increased spiritual awareness. As Christians we desire for all Muslims to come into a relationship with God as their Father, who has shown His love for them through the sacrificial work of our Lord Jesus on the cross. The focus areas and prayer points to pray for Muslims will be provided daily on this page during Ramadan.
