You Are Invited! The global landscape of missions has changed and Africa is no longer a mission field but a mission force. It is, therefore, our pleasure to invite you to join the great assembly of the army of Christ as they gather in South Africa, Johannesburg, on August 21-25, for the 2017 Southern Africa, the Islands and Portuguese MANI Regional Consultation at Good News Convention Centre. The consultation is jointly organised by MANI and WENSA and is being hosted by our partners OC Africa. The Consultation theme is “No Place Left” (Rom.15:23) and some 300 Christian leaders from 19 countries in the region plus some global delegates will gather on site in Johannesburg. Will you think and pray about joining us? The Conference offers the best of meetings, special events, group discussions and in-depth analysis of the spiritual climate in the region and a great time of prayer for our countries and wonderful fellowship.
The consultation will focus on the following six crucial issues: 1. The Biblical Identity of the Church & its Role/Purpose in the World—In John 17:1- 5ff., Christ clearly defined His mission. He was sent to the world to bring hope and the promise of eternal life to all mankind, to those who would believe. Reaching the lost is what it was all about; it remains today the passion of His heart. Therefore this track is concerned about the mobilisation of the Church to fulfil Christ’s mission. 2. Discipleship—Going therefore to make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that He commanded us is the concern of this track. Every member of the church should be trained on discipleship, and in turn disciples making disciples. 3. Generation Engagement—Youth and Children—2 Timothy 2:2 Paul instructed Timothy that what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men who will be able to teach others also. How are Churches entrusting to young people the truth of the gospel? Are we concerned about passing on what we have learned to the next generation? In this track, participants will be challenged on the issues of the generation engagement. 4. The World at Your Door Step—Globalisation & urbanisation are realities in Africa. The rate of urbanisation in African cities is highest in the world, many nations are flocking to our cities. Preparing the urban church to reach the nations on our doorsteps – other faiths (Muslims, Buddhists, etc.) migrants (e.g. Chinese), refugees, etc. is the purpose and focus of this track. 5. The Unengaged and the Unreached (UUPG) - Targeting the UUPG’s in Africa & beyond Africa is the burden of this track. What can be done to increase this effort in our region and in our countries? How do we create an integrated strategy that moves from local to global? 6. Prayer— Job 12:23-25 – God makes nations great, and he destroys them; He enlarges nations, and He disperses them. Prayer and intercession for the nations will form a bigger part of the conference. Every evening congregants will raise their voices in prayer for the nations.
